2008 Information - Mennonite Society of Musical Heritage

Hello Singers,

I'm delighted to be the choir director for the first-ever "Young Voices for Peace." We're putting together this choir for area Mennonite youth in grades 3rd - 9th and their friends. Emily Martin, who is a member of the MSMH Steering Committee, and I will be working together to bring you a fun and rewarding experience!

You'll sing some great music including pieces with strong drumming accompaniments, a cool South African Freedom song, and a piece with the lyrics written by a young girl in a WWII concentration camp. I think you'll love singing them!

You don't need to be a great singer for our choir, just someone who likes to sing and is interested in singing about peace. We'll actually have two choirs--one for younger singers (3rd-5th or 6th graders) and one for older singers in the 6th-9th grades. We'll also join together to do a few combined pieces. Please sign up soon and recruit some friends!

YOUNG VOICES FOR PEACE!

The Mennonite Society of Musical Heritage is sponsoring an opportunity for area 3rd -9th grade Mennonite youth to join a choir called "Young Voices for Peace." Singers are invited to ask friends to join the choir as well. The choir will be conducted by Dr. Sue Williamson and associate conductor Emily Martin. See Dr. Williamson's note below.

Rehearsals will result in a Concert/Hymn Sing on April 20. A contribution of $10.00/singer is gladly accepted but not mandatory.

Rehearsal Requirements:

* Singers are asked to be on time for rehearsals.

* Attendance is mandatory at the April 20 rehearsal and at the Concert/Hymn Sing following.

* One rehearsal may be missed if singer has a previous commitment. Please be certain to note the rehearsal that will be missed on the Sign-up form.
