grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She was student at
Goshen College where she majored in nursing sang in the Nurses Choir.
Carolyn spent years in the health care profession on the nursing staff
at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and, later with
the Tri-County Health Department as a field nurse. She has been very
active at First Mennonite Church of Denver, singing in the Choir,
teaching Sunday school, directing Children's Choir, leading singing,
arranging special music and working on the worship committee. Carolyn
is the mother of three grown children, the grandmother of five, and
lives in Boulder with her husband Mel. "My grandfather, Detwiler, used
to lead music camps, compose music and lead singing. My father and
Detwiler uncles sang in a quartet which would perform at many church
functions on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We truly have a great and
unique musical heritage. I want to do all I can to pass this gift on to
others."
